I bought a mac just the other day, and upgraded immediately to snow leopard. Everything went fine, until I tried to watch a DVD. The “DVD Player” application tried to start, but then died with the following error
There was an initialization error. The current machine or system configuration is not supported [-70013]
I dug around in Google for a while, but couldn’t find anything valuable.
Then I checked apple’s support forums, and there was this post
It worked like a charm! Good luck!

Good trick; sorry I didn’t see this earlier. Another one to keep in mind is Cmd+Opt+O+F during startup. It boots into Open Firmware mode. Then type in reset-nvram then set-defaults and, finally, reset-all to restart the computer.
That procedure will solve just about any hardware-related problem that isn’t caused by an actual physical failure.
