you can take all the swans on my lake if you want. They are vicious and have seriously injured many children

Yeah, nature needs to be respected — i.e., kept at a distance. Sadly many people don’t grasp that concept and get hurt.

It is amazing what strong birds they are. A friend of mine was attacked by a swan when canoeing. The mother swan felt the canoe was threatening her babies and swooped over and beat the guy with her wings….knocked the guy out of the canoe and he almost drowned….very bizarre story…hard to believve such graceful animals can be so powerful…

Matt…you should read the Hatchet series of books to your girls..considering where you live now…they would love those books. The Hatchet series became part of our science curriculum one year when we homeschooled. it was amazing how much we learned from those books.

one time i was putting my swim raft in the water, a swan flew towards me from a good 500 yards away. I jumped out of the water onto my swimraft. He hissed and flapped at me, then he took flight again, flew 100 yards away from me, did a 180 and came back towards me like a kamikaze. I had to dive back in the water so he wouldn’t hit me. Then I had to jump back on the raft so he wouldn’t attack me in the water. My friends on the beach had to hit him with rocks so he would stop attacking me. Eventually he left. Nobody swims or skis on our lake anymore because too many people have been hospitalized because of swans. Keeping your distance doesn’t do any good with those evil creatures.
